Great Teacher Woo Myung

Born in a small town located in the Kyeongbuk province of South Korea, Woo Myung experienced many difficulties in life that left him with a yearning for peace. Through introspection, he opened his mind to the search for Truth. In January of 1996, while meditating in the Gaya Mountains of South Korea, he achieved enlightenment.  That same year, he founded Maum Meditation and has been working ever since to educate the public on the Truth.

While traveling around the world, he has found that although the language and cultures of each nation are different; people’s lives are essentially the same–everyone works in order to subsist. Nevertheless, no one knows where it is humans are going, what they live for, or why they live and die. These are questions that man could not surely answer.  While attending countless meetings around the world with U.N. members and spiritual, religious and political leaders worldwide, Woo Myung’s message has always been the following:    Teacher Woo Myung’s ultimate vision is to see the history of mankind that has continuously been of rapid material development, take leave and enter the age of a new world–a world of the true consciousness where anyone can become a saint and a holy person.

Since November of 1996, Woo Myung has solely focused on teaching the Truth to others.  Currently, there are over 300,000 people involved in Maum Meditation in 323 meditation centers located throughout the world.
Woo Myung was awarded the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Prize by the UN-NGO International Association of Educators for World Peace in 2002. Woo Myung has also been appointed as World Peace Ambassador by the same organization for his outstanding dedication and service to humanity.
Because of his compassion and love for the people,  teacher Woo Myung is diligently working to promote his goal for everyone to live as one mind and body–the mind of the Universe, which is swiftly taking into effect all around the world. Essentially, people are all one. Without prejudice, judgment, and hostility, people are all one. But it is only possible to see this and achieve inner peace after the cleansing of one’s false mind.
