Man is born with a mind that wants to possess, so he seeks satisfaction and happiness through possession. However, there is no end to such means; ultimately, he cannot be satisfied or happy.
All greed arises from his mind of inferiority and when he is not able to have or achieve what he wants, this turns into feelings of regret and bitterness. Only when he discards this, will those feelings of regret and bitterness truly disappear.
Until now, man has lived trying to possess what he can because of his mind that wants to make everything his. At present, this is the way all people live.
The world is in a state of instability, people have lost their trust in each other and they live struggling to appease their feelings of inferiority; in this age, rather than learning how to possess, learning to not possess is the way to become complete and the way to live a better life. This is because instead of just thinking that we must discard money in our minds, we will be able to carry it out into action.
A mind full of greed is always anguished; and a life lived following one’s anguish is without action; it is a life with thoughts leading only to more thoughts.
If the past was the age of adding to one’s mind, now the age of subtracting what is in his mind has begun. One who subtracts his mind in this time will recover his original nature; consequently, the whole human race will become one and the world will become complete because everyone will live for others and the world.
Human completion is becoming God’s mind by subtracting all of one’s own mind. One will then be able to live well for he will have wisdom and his mind that is the Soul and Spirit will live eternally.
Subtracting all human mind – all the mind one has, that he has “eaten” – is completion.

From Despair To Hope

Woo Myung's Illustration

Even a long time ago, there were people living in the world.
The many people who lived in the world throughout the ages have all disappeared,
silently and without a trace.
While they lived, they were attached to the realities of their daily lives and
they suffered because they tried to possess everything,
but despite agonizing over the meaningless events of life, no trace of them remains.

Ultimately, there is no meaning in human life.
The only way for man to live forever and escape from suffering and burden is to die,
while he is still living. Only then can he find his true self.
His true self is God who remains when he is dead.
Even if all people and the world disappear,
what remains is the existence without form, taste, scent, sight, hearing and sensation.
That is, the existence for which these minds have completely ceased remains; namely, the original foundation.

If one is reborn from the original foundation, man and the world become eternal and never-dying immortals, and both the world and man live, for they become God that never dies.

Discarding falseness and becoming real is the only path to life. People want to become real but at the same time keep the falseness; there are not many people who know that they can only become real if they throw away what is false.

People have such strong attachments to their falseness that they look for Truth within it. They do not know that Truth does not exist within falseness – that is how foolish people are. The right way, or the answer, is to discard falseness so that only Truth remains, and to be reborn as Truth. -Woo Myung-

Woo Myung and Maum Meditation

maum meditation levels

Teacher Woo Myung founded Maum Meditation to solely teach people Truth and make them become Truth. This is the excerpt from <The Way To Become a Person In Heaven While Living>

Maum Meditation teaches how to cleanse falseness – the pictures of past memories – which we have accumulated through our self-centered experiences. It teaches us that we are the false minded illusions and that our bodies and minds must be cleansed. Then it teaches us to cleanse the universe in our delusional minds so that we can know and become Truth.

From start to finish, Maum Meditation is a place that focuses only on cleansing oneself. When one cleanses his self and everything in the universe, only the pure universe, Truth remains. Maum Meditation is the place, where one is reborn as the body and mind of the pure universe and goes to heaven where life and death are one; it is the place to deny and cleanse the self; it is the place to cleanse the self because you can only be reborn as Truth when you are cleansed.

Level 1: Throwing away remembered thoughts

Level 2: Throwing away images of myself, images of human relationships, and myself

Level 3: Throwing away my body

Level 4: Throwing away my body and the universe

Level 5: Throwing away my body and the universe

Level 6: Self disappears by subtraction and becomes the Universe

Level 7: Throwing away the illusionary world of pictures and myself living inside that world

When you reflect upon yourself, you will see how self-centered and hypocritical you really are. When you truly throw away your self-centered and hypocritical self, you will be Truth, and there will be the world of Truth. Maum Meditation is the place to cleanse both body and mind to become Truth.

As it is cleansed of falseness, your mind becomes clear and true, and thus, it becomes more comfortable. Because all illnesses are caused by the mind, there are many cases where people are cured from their illnesses and become healthier after practicing Maum Mediation. Maum Meditation exists in order to make human completion possible for everyone. Anyone can become a saint, know the flow of nature, and go to the forever-living heaven where life and death are one while living.

Maum Meditation is the place where the ultimate purpose of mankind’s existence can be achieved.

Do you know where your true home is?
Teacher Woo Myung has written what the true home meant to be in the poem below. :)

 Home

At home, the flowers blooms as they always do.
It seems home is the best place in the world,
because those who leave come back as corpses.
If someone does not come back home,
it is because he is busy trying to make
a living in a foreign land,
and if he is busy, it means he finds it a struggle
to earn enough to live.
Living is just a phase of human life,
but life simply passes by without a purpose.

It is the same way that life exists in time,
home is thought to be where your body was born.
People live in foreign lands
holding onto home in their hearts,
but because of their greed
no one, not the living or the dead,
knows the true meaning of home.
The place before one was created is his true home,
but people live with the mistaken belief
that home is the place their bodies were born.

The true home exists silently
but people long for their relationships of the past
while holding onto them only in their minds,
so their home is only a home.
Home is not where your body was born;
man builds his home in his own empty sky
and longs for home.
